John D. Wimer

MEADVILLE — John D. Wimer, 59, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at his residence.

He was born July 19, 1953, in Braxton County, W.Va., a son of Homer Albert Wimer and Shirley E. Yeager. He married Terri Hoke on April 14, 1984; she survives.

John worked in the oil fields and for W.L. Dunn in his early years.

He was a member of Station 4 Volunteer Fire Department.

John loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren on a regular basis. He enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all their sporting events and teaching them new things. John was a kind person, always willing to help family, friends and even at times, strangers. He loved his dogs, was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed deep sea fishing when on family vacations. To some people he was very different, to others he was a God send with a heart of gold. John will be dearly missed always and forever by all who touched his daily life. On Angel wings let him fly to better places. We will always look for your star. God bless and keep you in his care.

John is survived by his loving wife, Terri Wimer; his mother, Shirley Large of Buckhannon, W.Va.; his two daughters, Tammy Tatters and her husband, Joseph, of Cochranton, and Jamie Churchfield and her husband, Robert. John is also survived by three sons and a daughter and their children; four grandchildren, Kaden Tatters, Bryce Tatters, Malia Tatters and Emma Churchfield; and his father- and mother-in-law, James E. Hoke and his wife, Jackie, of Meadville.

John was preceded in death by his father; three brothers; and a sister.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, where the memorial service will follow at 3 p.m., with Father Matthew Kujawinski of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church officiating.

The family suggest that memorials may be made to the funeral home.
