Montreal, Quebec — Elizabeth Frances (Fran) Coyle-McNutt, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, surrounded by her family. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 57 years, James McNutt; children, Beth (Sean) and Nathan (Ania); grandchildren, Julianna and Cameron; and siblings, Leora, Shirley, Patricia and Jim.

Fran was born in Titusville in 1934. She completed a bachelor’s degree and did graduate work in mathematics and history at Edinboro University. She was a highly regarded mathematics teacher at Conneaut Lake High School for a decade. Fran moved with her family to Montreal, Canada, in 1976, remaining steadfastly devotional to raising her family. Fran was an exceptionally skilled intellectual, an avid reader and conversationalist, a keen observer of news and politics and a great lover of music. She was also a master knitter, creating hundreds of beautiful sweaters for family and friends over the years.

A celebration of her life will take place on Oct. 12 in Gaines, where her ashes will be laid to rest at Knowlton Cemetery. Details can be obtained by sending an email to
