Barbara Ann Liedl Loiacono Smith, 78, of Hillside Home and formerly of Townville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 1, 1935, in DuBois, a daughter of Bernard Liedl and Ann Flick Liedl. She married John Loiacono; he passed away in 1966. She subsequently married Paul Harvey Smith; he passed away in 1984.
She was a graduate of Saint Catherine’s High School in DuBois and Spencer Hospital School of Nursing.
Barbara was employed as a registered nurse with the surgical department at Spencer Hospital and Meadville Medical Center. She retired in 1995.
She was a member of Saint Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church.
Barbara enjoyed mowing her lawn, traveling to Florida in the winter months, quilting and loved spending time with her family playing cards.
She is survived by three daughters, Ann M. Zurasky and her husband, Harry, of Townville, Linda (Buba) C. Loiacono of Guys Mills, and Mary Jo Lohrer of Meadville; three stepchildren, Mike Smith and his wife, Karen, of Saegertown, Lynn Smith of Meadville and Kirk Smith of Meadville; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Megan Zurasky and Michael and Kristine Lohrer; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard Liedl and his wife, Muirelle, of Norfolk, Va.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; a stepson, Mark Smith and his wife, Patty.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Saint Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, 25997 Route 27, Guys Mills, with Father Daniel Prez, pastor, as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s memory to Saint Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, 25997 Route 27, Guys Mills, Pa. 16327; or Hillside Home, 535 Williamson Road, Meadville, Pa. 16335.
