PALM BAY, Fla. —
Edward (Eddie) Koket of Palm Bay, Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Holmes Regional Hospital, Melbourne, Fla.
He was born to Andrew Koket and Anna Staczewski on Nov. 19, 1926. He married Elaine Wilson on Dec. 8, 1968.
Ed attended Meadville-area schools. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1950 with the rank of sergeant. Ed worked for Avtex (American Viscose) for 43 1/2 years and also for Winn Dixie until his death. He and his wife spent their winters in Florida. In 2007, they made their home in Palm Bay.
He is survived by his wife of 44 1/2 years, Elaine; a son, Andrew Koket and his wife, Michelle, of Guys Mills; two stepchildren, Bernadine Hamilton of Guys Mills and DeWayne Wagner of Meadville; nine grandchildren, Justin Peterson of Palm Bay, with whom Ed and his wife resided, Arin Calahan of Saegertown, who was very special to her grandfather, Kim Lippert of Cochranton, Alicia Hovis of Erie, Julie Hamilton of Meadville, Alex and Haley Wagner of Meadville, Luke Piper of Pittsburgh, and Ashley Reynolds of Guys Mills; a great-grandson, Kyler Mattson of Saegertown; three sisters, Cecelia Koczwara of Meadville, Anna Theresa Powel of Sunrise, Fla., and Genevieve Hilshimer of Augusta, Ga.; and lots of nieces and nephews who were special to Ed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two stepdaughters, Lynette Wagner and Sondra Peterson; two grandsons, Joseph Peterson and Jacob Wagner; three sisters, Mary Sonowski, Sophie Kaster and Helen Susky; and a brother, John Koket.
Viewing will be Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 11 at Guys Mills Evangelical Free Church.
