MEADVILLE — Fannie (Petie) Wygant DeBaise, 81, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center. She was born in Meadville on Oct. 20, 1932, a daughter of Walter Wygant and Myrtle Schweitzer Wygant. She married Art DeBaise on Oct. 31, 1950. He survives.

Petie was a 1950 graduate of Meadville Area High School.

She had worked for several years at American Viscose before retiring from Meadville Medical Center where she worked in Central Supply and lab aide.

Petie was a lifetime member of the Italian Civic Club.

She enjoyed going out to eat, traveling all over the United States on Anderson Bus Tours, going to the casino, reading, The Home Shopping Network and QVC, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her loving husband, Art, of nearly 61 years, Petie is survived by three daughters, Susan Szalewicz, Deni DeBaise and Karen DeBaise, all of Meadville; three grandchildren, Amy Lawrence and her husband, Blair, of Meadville, Carla Szalewicz of Meadville, Michael Szalewicz of Meadville; and Carla and Michael’s father, Ted Szalewicz; two great-grandchildren, Brett and Brady Lawrence of Meadville; a sister, Iris (Doopie) Brown and her husband, Bob, of Meadville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor David Brumagin officiating.

Burial will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery.
