Victor Samuel Farrah

SALISBURY, N.C. — Victor Samuel Farrah, 89, of Salisbury, N.C., passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Hospice House at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center.

Born Oct. 1, 1924, in Detroit, Mich., he was a son of the late George John Farrah Sr. and Lily Saigh Barbour Farrah.

He was educated in Detroit, and graduated from Eastern High School and attended Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy during World War II before being medically discharged.

Mr. Farrah was associate with Packard Motor Company Test Sales from 1942 to 1945, 1945 to 1949 with United Parcel Service in Detroit, 1950 to 1960 he was truck manager with Ver Hoven Woodward Chevrolet, Detroit, and from 1960 to 1981 he owned Vic Farrah Chevrolet in Meadville.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury, Composite Masonic Lodge, Detroit, he was a 50-year member Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie, Shrine Club of Crawford County, Taylor Hose Company, Meadville Kiwanis, member and former president of the Meadville Sertoma Club and the Salisbury Lions Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Susan Farrah in 1985; brothers, John Farrah, Edward Farrah and George J. Farrah Jr.; and sisters, Leona Wright and Jean Farrah.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Nioma Peterson Farrah; sons, Dr. Victor B. Farrah Sr. and wife, Donna, of Lexington, Brad Farrah and wife, Marty, of Salisbury, Laura Farrah Lancaster and husband, Fred, of Dameron, Md.; brother, William Farrah and wife, Janice, of Detroit; grandchildren, Hillary Farrah, Brittany Farrah Quinn and husband, Mike, Victor Byron Farrah Jr., Leila Faries and husband, Victor, Matthew Lancaster and Caroline Lancaster; and great-grandchildren, Victor and Katie Faries.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville, with the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen officiating. There will be a luncheon at the church following the service.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. April 15 at First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury, with the Rev. Dr. Jim C. Dunkin and Rev. Dr. Randal V. Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Lewis Hall.

Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.
