Peter P. Calomino, 88, of Meadville, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, at Meadville Medical Center. He was born Oct. 29, 1925, in Dunmore, a son of Peter Calomino and Letizia Carardo Calomino. He married Catherine Calabretta on May 8, 1946; she preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 1999.
He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and worked as a stock keeper on the railroad.
Peter was a member of Saint Mary of Grace and enjoyed volunteering at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community and the former Beverly Healthcare.
He is survived by a daughter, Maria Landl and her husband, Anton, of Highland Heights, Ohio; two sons, Peter M. Calomino and his wife, Windy, of New Kensington, and Michael Calomino and his wife, Mary Beth, of Bolingbrook, Ill.; four grandchildren, Mela Calomino-Zinz, Ariel Spencer and her husband, Derek, Emily Comroe and her husband, Brian, and Stephen Calomino; three great-grandchildren, Tiernan Zinz, Max Spencer and Elise Comroe; two brothers, Joseph Calomino of Dunmore and Emil Calomino (Peter’s twin brother) of Pittsburgh; Peter’s dearest friend and companion, Frances Best of Meadville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Peter was preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. A prayer vigil service will take place at 3 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Father Marc J. Solomon, pastor, as celebrant.
Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
