Robert A. Gariepy Sr., 73, of Cochranton, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at UPMC Hamot in Erie. Born in Titusville on Oct. 22, 1940, he was a son of Gusty and Alice Kitchen Gariepy. He married Harriet Morrison and she preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 1999.
Bob was a lifelong lumberman, working for Blakesly’s and Malliard’s Lumber and other local lumber companies.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Meadville Moose, Cochranton Fire Department Station 4, Vernon Central and the Cochranton Sportsmen’s Club.
Survivors include his children, Brenda Hall and her husband, John, of East Springfield, Robert Gariepy Jr., and his companion, Rhonda, of Florida, Debbie Boyer and her husband, Barry, of Erie, Pam Mead and her husband, Dennis, of Girard, Roger Gariepy and his wife, Jen, of Westfield, N.Y., and Shelly Biles and her husband, Gary, of Springboro; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Peg Sterling of Hydetown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Harriet, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Adams; five brothers, Gusty, Frank, Russell, Kenny and Donny; and three sisters, Marge, Shirley and Virginia.
Friends will be received at Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gregg Spencer of Cochranton United Methodist Church officiating.
