Leo (Bus) Erving Hittle

FREDONIA — Leo (Bus) Erving Hittle of Fredonia died at 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Villas at St. Paul’s Home, West Salem Township. He was 88.

Leo was born in Greenville on Jan. 11, 1925, a son of the late Paul and Geraldine Brown Hittle. On July 14, 1943, he married the former Alice Marie Hays, who preceded him in death in 2002.

“Bus,” as he was known to his family and friends, was a lifelong residence of the Fredonia area. He had owned and operated a farm in Delaware Township From 1948 to 1968 and worked at Shenango Incorporated from 1951 until his having retired in 1986.

For many years he and his wife enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Greenville. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by four sons, Donald Hittle and his companion, Linda Dille, of Conneaut Lake, Paul Hittle of Cadillac, Mich., James Hittle and his wife, Patricia, of Fredonia, and William Hittle and his wife, Patricia, of Mercer; and nine grandchildren, Lisa Guidance and her husband, Frank, Pam Reagle and her husband, Chuck, Michael Hittle, James Hittle Jr., Tracy Gregor, Donald Hittle Jr., Jennifer Hittle, Thomas Hittle and Keith Hittle. Eight great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years; a sister, Delores Hittle Fratilla; an infant brother, Paul Hittle Jr.; an infant grandson, Ryan David Hittle; a great-grandson, James Allen Hittle; and a grandson-in-law, Paul Gregor.

Friends and family may call at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 169 Second St., Fredonia, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to share memories and condolences online at robertsnyderfuneralhome.com.

The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Camp, interim pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, officiating.

The committal service and interment will follow at Delaware Cemetery.

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 10 Beil Hill Road, Greenville, Pa. 16125.
