TITUSVILLE — Joseph R. Nosker, 85, of Titusville, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014, following a sudden illness.

Mr. Nosker was born on Sept. 12, 1928, at Youngsville, a son of the late George J. Nosker Sr. and Theressa Bunce Nosker. He was married to Mary Jane Weber on Aug. 8, 1955, at Centerville. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2005.

He was a graduate of Pleasantville High School, class of 1946.

Mr. Nosker was a veteran of World War II and of the Korean Conflict. He entered the U.S. Army at Pittsburgh on June 4, 1946, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 5, 1947, at Ft. McPherson, Ga., with the rank of corporal. He immediately re-enlisted and was honorably discharged on March 21, 1952.

He enjoyed traveling to casinos with his friends, poker being his game of choice. He also enjoyed his many mornings having coffee at the local McDonald’s with friends, and his time spent at the YMCA. One of his hobbies was woodworking and he made many bird feeders, chairs, stools, etc., for his loved ones.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Joan “Rusty” Pokay of Oil City; his best friend, Gloria Kutska of Titusville; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Nosker-Bickel of Meadville; his niece, Linda Litzinger and husband, John, of Meadville; nephews, Wayne Nosker and wife, Marie, of Meadville, James Morrison and wife, Linda, of Grand Valley, and Donald Morrison and wife, Eileen, of Titusville; and many great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, George James Nosker Jr.; a sister, Olive “Peg” Morrison; and a nephew, Russell Morrison and his wife, Kathleen.

Friends may call at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time the funeral service will be conducted. Full military honors will be provided by officers and members of the Titusville VFW and American Legion.

Interment will be in Neilltown Cemetery.
