SANDY LAKE — Steven W. Austin, 39, of 39 Broad St., Sandy Lake, formerly of Saegertown, passed away Wednesday morning, July 31, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center following complications of diabetes. Steven had been a resident of the Meadville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born in Greenville on May 9, 1974, a son of Charles D. and Helen L. Bish Austin. He had been employed by Channellock of Meadville for eight years and had previously worked at Andover Industries. Steven enjoyed spending time on his computer and playing video games and always appreciated being able to attend family dinners and socializing.

He is survived by his parents of Sandy Lake; a sister, Tammie McMullen and her husband, Mike, of Fredonia; a brother, Franklin Austin and his wife, Tracy, of Jamestown; five nieces and nephews, Alex Zapia, Shawnees Shaver and her husband, Eric, Mike McMullen Jr. and his wife, Tori, Isaiah Austin and Mercedies Austin.

Steven was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Sara Austin; his paternal stepgrandmother, Geraldine Austin; and his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Erma Bish.

Friends may call at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. and are invited to share memories and condolences with the family online at

The funeral and committal service will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Virginia Gadsby, associate pastor of New Lebanon Community Church, officiating.

Cremation through the funeral home has been selected as disposition.
