Elizabeth Jean (Betty) Percy, 79, of Linesville and formerly of Meadville and Rock Hill, S.C., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at her residence in Linesville.
She was born March 27, 1934, a daughter of the late Victor Jay and Ethel Mae Sloat Taylor. She married Donald Ray Percy, who survives.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Rock Hill and had served as the president of the Ladies WMU Circle at the church and was a dedicated member of the church choir. She had attended Linesville United Methodist Church. She was a fierce prayer warrior. She also loved going to garage sales.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Ray Percy of Rock Hill; her children; Deborah Hall and her husband, James, of Rock Hill, Earl Weigle Jr. and his wife, Ala., of Leonardtown, Md., and Lisa McGrath and her husband Thomas, of Linesville; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Beverly Kreger of Pittsburgh, Carole McQuown and her husband, Randall, of Newark, Del., and Janice Carpenter and her husband, Dave, of Susquehanna. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Louann Weigle Rearick; a great-grandson, Connor Jess McGrath, a great-granddaughter, Melanie Grace Rowland-Jenetta; and by two brothers, Donald Taylor and Jack Taylor.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dennis Lawton of Linesville United Methodist Church officiating. The committal service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Second Baptist Church in Rock Hill.
