GUYS MILLS — Lawrence W. Grove, 85, of Guys Mills, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013, at his residence.

He was born July 14, 1927, in Hydetown, a son of Orville Grove and Mary Kightlinger Grove. He married Mary Ellen McBride; she preceded him in death on April 29, 2001.

He attended Townville schools and was employed by the Erie Lackawanna-Conrail Railroad.

Lawrence was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country from 1950 to 1952 stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas.

He was a former member of the Vernon Volunteers, Crawford County REACT and he enjoyed hobby farming.

Lawrence is survived by a daughter, Michele L. Erie and her fiancé, Theodore S. Charles of Guys Mills; and two grandchildren, Gabrielle Harkness and Nicholas Erie.

In addition to his wife, Mary Ellen Grove, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral and committal service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Joe Kaufer of Southern Care Hospice officiating. Following the committal service, full military honors will be performed by Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 Color Guard. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township. Memorial contributions may be made in Lawrence’s memory to Southern Care Hospice, 1245 Park Ave., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
