Patricia A. Smith, 62, of Meadville, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 17, 1951, in Meadville, a daughter of the late Richard A. and Joyce A. Welsh Wood. She married Mark C. Smith on Oct. 12, 1974, and he preceded her in death Oct. 6, 2002.
Patricia was a 1969 graduate of Meadville High School and was employed by Crawford Central School District for 36 years, retiring in 2005. She worked as a secretary at Meadville Area Senior High her entire career, including more than 20 years as head secretary. Patricia held various offices in the Pennsylvania State Support Association throughout the years.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church, a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville, was an avid bowler and enjoyed reading. Patricia always enjoyed laughing and cherished her time interacting with friends and especially family.
Survivors include a son, Christopher Smith and his wife, Amy, of Meadville; a sister, Janice D. Derby and her husband, Terry, of Meadville; a brother, Edward L. McClay and his wife, Joanne, of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Solomon, pastor of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
