Emaline Carr, 99, of Meadville passed away on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 3, 1914, in Smithfield, a daughter of the late William and Matilda Hertzog Martin. She married Merle E. Carr in August 1930. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1995.
She had worked at Talon and at Meadville Malleable. She was a member of First Christian Church, Meadville. She raised and sold raspberries and she also owned the Cussewago Kennels. She enjoyed spending the winters in Florida. She liked crocheting and was a great cook and especially enjoyed making jelly. Deer hunting and going to hunting camp was one of her enjoyments. She liked the time she spent with her family and friends and attending church functions. She was a very generous and a “one of a kind” person. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was the last remaining of a family of seven.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara J. Killen of Chambersburg; a son, Edward L. Carr and his wife, Rebecca, of Meadville; five grandchildren; Steve Carr and his wife, Michelle, Andrea Robinson and her husband, Howie, Jon Carr and his wife, Melanie, Christy Burkholder and her husband, Dave, and Megan Cook and her companion, Mike. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Wallace, Willard and Leroy; two sisters, Lida and Lizzie; and by a niece, Beverly.
Calling hours are today from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, with Roger Smith of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Radle Cemetery.
