JAMESTOWN — Louise Jane Calhoun Jewart, 80, of 2139 Livingston Road, Jamestown, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at the Hamrick House in Okeechobee, Fla.

She was born July 11, 1933, in Goheenville to Robert L. and Pearce Sowers Calhoun. She married James E. Jewart on May 27, 1955; he survives.

She was a 1951 graduate of Dayton High School and graduated as a registered nurse in 1955 from Allegheny General Hospital. She worked from 1955 to 1957 at Clarion Osteopathic Hospital, from 1957 to 1958 at Geneva Hospital, from 1958 to 1968 at Meadville Hospital and from 1968 until her retirement in 1989 she worked 21 years at PPG Works 8 as the plant nurse.

She was a member of Westford United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed 20 years of traveling with her husband in their RV to many different states, including Alaska. They spent the winters in Lakeport, Fla., since 1994. She enjoyed reading, even fishing, needlework, computers and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, she’s survived by a son, Larry Jewart of Jamestown; two daughters, Cindy McBroom and her husband, Mike, of Jamestown and Dona Phyllis and her husband, Howard, of Espyville; a twin sister, Lois Jean Woodall of Pittsburgh; a brother, Lester Calhoun of Slago; and a granddaughter, Darcy Beck of Eagle, Colo.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Beck; two brothers, Beryl Calhoun and Donald Calhoun; and a sister, Romain Damish.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were handled in Okeechobee.
