Rose Ann Singleton

On Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, Rose Ann Singleton departed this life.

She was born in Meadville Sept. 30, 1915, to the late Michael and Pasquala Mongiacrapa Fucci, who immigrated to the United States from a small town in Italy (Marcianise near Naples).

Rose was educated in the public schools of Meadville and worked for many years at Talon Inc., National Win-Tronics and Mellon Bank.

A loving wife and mother, Rose was devoted to her family. Her first marriage to the late William A. Higgs Sr. of Franklin ended in divorce. She later married Getdins T. Singleton of Guys Mills and they were together for 47 years when he passed in 1995.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Elene, James, Joseph, Mary, Frank, Ethel, Barto (her twin brother), Artemas, twin brothers Anthony and Charles, Michael, Vera, Dominic and Philomena.

Rose leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, William A. Higgs Jr. and his wife, Martha, of Jacksonville, N.C., Margaret Buckner and her husband, Eddie, of Erie, Ethelda Myers and her husband, Edward, of Erie, Philomena Jenkins and her husband, Wilbert, of South Orange, N.J., Carmella McLaurin of Guys Mills, Harry M. Singleton and his wife, Lucilene, of Washington, D.C., and Robert G. Singleton and his wife, Cathy, of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Gladys Singleton Johnson of Meadville, Kenneth Singleton of Queens, N.Y., and William Singleton and his wife, Annie, of Guys Mills; 32 grandchildren; a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.

Rose was a very caring and generous individual who was loved by people of all persuasions and generations. Her inner strength and kindness was an inspiration to others, especially to her children who will miss her dearly.

There will be no viewing.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville.

Roofner-Collins Funeral Home Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, is in charge of arrangements.
