GREENVILLE — Ethel M. Carr, 85, formerly of Hartstown, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, in White Cliff Nursing Home, Greenville.

She was born in Hartstown on Feb. 8, 1928, a daughter of Charles Sorochak and Anna (Oshinski) Carr.

Ethel was a graduate of Jamestown High School. She was a homemaker and had previously been employed for 20 years by the former Blazon Corp. in Jamestown.

She was a member of Hartstown Presbyterian Church.

She had been very active with the Hartstown Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, and her hobbies included gardening, cooking, baking and crafts.

She married Howard L. Carr on July 7, 1945; he passed away Dec. 26, 2002.

Surviving are five nieces, June Zank, Kate Mauceri and Wendy Hart, all of Dunedin, Fla., Nancy Hinkson of Chandler, Ariz., and Marcia Binda of Buffalo, N.Y.; and two nephews, Frank Palovich of San Diego, Calif., and Charles Sorochak of Brazil; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, John Sorochak; and three sisters, Ann Palovich, Helen Hart and Irene Lindsey.

Calling hour will be on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.

The funeral and committal service will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rachel Johns of Hartstown Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial will be in South Shenango Township Cemetery.
