SANDY CREEK TOWNSHIP —
Dennis R. Turlij of Sandy Creek Township, Hadley, passed away unexpectedly at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, in Perry Township as the result of having suffered an apparent heart attack after having been out deer hunting.
Dennis was born in Greenville on Feb. 10, 1952, the son of the late Paul and Helen (Barto) Turlij.
He was currently employed as a tank filler at Pittsburgh Glass Works (PGW), Meadville, for more than 40 years, formerly known as PPG Industries, Plant 8.
He had a love of the outdoors, whether it involved hunting, cutting firewood, or just enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. This passion for his being outdoors followed through with his enjoyment of working and farming on his land. Over the years, Dennis raised home-grown produce which he would sell at Four Maples Farm Market, which he had owned and operated along Route 19.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Turlij and his wife, Kara, of Roaming Shores, Ohio, and Kevin Turlij and his wife, Christina, of North East; four grandchildren, Brock, Jerek, Braydan and Gavin Tulij; a sister, Lucy Sprinkle and her husband, Paul, of Sandy Lake; and a brother, Robert Turlij of Linesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral for Dennis will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, with the Rev. Dayton Mix, pastor of Clarks Mills United Methodist Church, officiating.
