Richard C. (Dick) Lowrey

WATTSBURG — Richard C. (Dick) Lowrey, 77, of Wattsburg, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie.

He was born in Oil City on June 22, 1936, a son of Audell Clark Lowrey and the late Herbert Lowrey.

He retired from National Fuel where he worked in the land leasing department.

Along with his wife, they enjoyed their winters in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and summers in the Jamestown area. He was a youth baseball coach in Hermitage and was a past member of Hickory United Methodist Church, where he was an usher. He was most recently a member of both Lowville United Methodist Church and The Chapel in Myrtle Beach, serving as an usher at both congregations. Dick was a real “people person” with a wonderful sense of humor who made everyone feel comfortable in his presence. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, hunting and camping.

Dick was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Evalyn Lafferty Lowrey; their three children, Linda Doutt and her husband, Richard, of Hermitage, Rick Lowrey and his wife, Diane, of Harrisville, and Debby Peck and her husband, Phil, of Wattsburg; eight grandchildren, Krista Haswell and her husband, Kevin, Kheila Dunkerly and her husband, Beau, Kendra Darr and her husband, Dan, Elyse and Victoria Lowrey, and Austin, Brandon and Marshall Peck; and five great-grandchildren, Liam and Olivia Haswell, James and Jack Dunkerly and Keira Darr.

Friends may call at Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 at Lowville United Methodist Church, 13427 Route 8, Wattsburg.

Interment will follow in Wattsburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 W. Eighth St., Erie, Pa. 16501; or the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie, Pa. 16505.
