ANDOVER, Ohio —
Arthur W. Gaut, 86, of Andover, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the home of his grandson.
He was born in Meadville on July 15, 1927, a son of Clarence Gaut and Martha Susan Adell-McGuire Gaut. He married Angela M. Detomaso, and she preceded him in death Oct. 20, 2009.
He was a graduate of Meadville Area High School and served his machinist apprenticeship in Cleveland, Ohio.
Arthur served his county from 1940-42 with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He owned and operated Redan Machine Co. in Andover for 40 years until his retirement.
Arthur enjoyed doing yard work, reading, watching westerns and spending time with the family dog.
He is survived by a daughter, Arlene Gaut of Andover; a grandson, Alan Gaut Jr. and his wife, Niki, of Meadville; two great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Presley Gaut, both of Meadville; and a brother, Donald Gaut and his wife, Ruth, of Carlsbad, Calif.
In addition to his wife, Angela, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alan Gaut Sr.; and a sister, Freda Gaut.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. An additional calling hour will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m., with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m., with Father John Ordos of Sacred Heart Church of the Crucified One officiating.
The committal service and burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township.
