Frank R. Crash

GREENVILLE — Frank R. Crash, 76, of 362 Mercer Road, Hempfield Township, Greenville, and of Cherokee Trail, Conneaut Lake, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 25, 2013, in his residence.

He was born in Greenville on Feb. 1, 1937, a son of Carl A. Crash Sr. and Edna M. Fahl Crash.

He was a 1956 graduate of Penn High School. Since 1959 he has been the owner/operator of Frank Crash Auto Wrecking, with locations in Greenville and Sharon. Also during the late 1960s and ’70s he was the owner of Sloan Supply Co., Greenville.

He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville.

Frank was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 145, Greenville, Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department Station 3 and the former Taylor Hose, Meadville. He was an active owner for many years of Dirt Track Sprint Cars, with legendary driver Lou Blaney as his primary driver, and he himself raced snowmobiles during the ’60s and ’70s. Frank was a long-time sponsor of the Crash Auto Wrecking women’s bowling league. He was very supportive of Thiel College and Greenville High School, lending vehicles to various events and attending many of their football games throughout the years. In addition, he was a loyal Notre Dame Fan and enjoyed the many years of boating and spending time at Conneaut Lake.

He married Carol Lee Redfoot on Feb. 28, 1959; she passed away on Dec. 6, 2009.

Survivors include two daughters, Pam S. Higbee and her husband, Mike, of Greenville, and Susan K. Brenneman of Greenville; a sister, Nancy J. Crash of Greenville; two grandchildren, Kristina Higbee and her companion, Darrell McKoy, of Pittsburgh, and Adam Higbee and his wife, Tara, of Greenville; and two great-grandchildren, Mia Higbee and Kyle Higbee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sisters, Betty Zane, Peggy Crash and Laura Mae Crash; and two brothers, Ronald Crash and Carl A. (Joe) Crash.

Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, with Father V. David Foradori, pastor of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, as celebrant.

Burial with committal will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenville Football Activity Fund, Attention Brian Herrick, 9 Donation Road, Greenville, Pa. 16125.
