Thaddeus (Ted) M. Plucinski, 89, of 9111 Lebhaft Road, Espyville, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 5 a.m. at his residence.
He was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, a son of Valentine Plucinski and Stephanie Podmokly Plucinski. He married Helen J. Pawlowski on Oct. 5, 1946. She survives.
Ted served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, achieving the rank of SAO3c. He was a tool and die maker and owner of JATCO in Pittsburgh for 20 years.
He was a member of St. Philip’s Roman Catholic Church in Linesville and attended St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church in Jamestown.
Ted enjoyed family, golfing, hunting and fishing. He was active in the Jamestown Lions Club for 28 years. He became a life member in 1999, served as president in 1991, was a Melvin Jones Fellow award recipient in 2002 and served as chairman on several committees. He was a former member and past head knight of Linesville Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Helen Plucinski; two sons, Michael Plucinski and his wife, Mindy, of Tampa, Fla., and Mark Plucinski and his wife, Karen, of Joplin, Mo.; a daughter, Deborah Plucinski of Albion; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two sisters.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Randall Funeral Home, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown, with a Lions Necrology service at 8 p.m.
Cremation will follow.
