Edward Eugene Smith, 65, of Meadville, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at his residence.
He was born March 21, 1949, in Logansport, Cass County, Ind., a son of Mildred Marie Richardson and the late Lawrence E. Smith.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He had been employed as a plastics worker. Edward was a member of American Legion Post 111 Meadville, and the Meadville Italian Civic Club.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred Marie Wampler, and his stepfather, Shannon Wampler, of Meadville, a daughter; Jodie Lynn Warden and her husband, Brian, of Harvest, Ala.; a son, Edward (JR) Smith Jr. of Decatur, Ala.; a grandson, Brady Warden of Harvest; two brothers; Kenneth Smith and his wife, Gale, of Pekin, Ind., and Daniel Smith and his wife, Kathy, of Burnettsville, Ind.; and four stepsisters, Mary June McIntire of Royal Center, Ind., Becky Johnson and her husband, Kenny, of Ohio, Norma Jo Snay of Royal Center, and Lori Berkshire and her husband, Tim, of Royal Center. He is further survived by four nephews.
In addition to his father, Lawrence E. Smith, Edward was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Smith and Michael Smith.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville. Family and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service at 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor David Brumagin, Pastoral Care of Meadville Medical Center, officiating.
