JAMESTOWN — Goldie C. Fronko, 79, of Jamestown, passed away at 1:47 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at UPMC Greenville, following an extended illness.

Goldie was born Aug. 17, 1933, to John H. and Floretta (Fogel) Canon Sr. in Sharon. She graduated from Sharon High School. Goldie worked as an operator for Bell Telephone for 30 years until her retirement. On Sept. 24, 1976, she married Joseph C. Fronko, who survives her.

She was of Protestant faith. Goldie enjoyed time spent with family, crocheting, card playing, cooking and enjoyed cooking television shows.

Goldie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Joseph C. Fronko; two sons, Michael A. (Cindie) Harkless of Geneva on the Lake, Ohio, and Christopher W. (Maureen A.) Harkless of Meadville; daughter, Judith M. (Stephen H.) Johnson of Meadville; sister, Connie (William) Kranich of Sharpsville; seven grandchildren, Adrianne, Deneil, Samuel, Joseph, Michael, John and Lee; also two great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Farren.

She was preceded in death by her father, John H. Canon Sr.; mother, Floretta Canon; and brother, John H. Canon Jr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home, 2201 Highland Road, Hermitage.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Stelle officiating.

Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
