Anthony Leon Prystaloski, 89, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, after a short illness. He was born Aug. 18, 1923 in Allison, a son of Joseph and Anne Prystaloski.
His father and five brothers moved to a local farm in Meadville when Anthony was 12 years old. He was married to Martha Irene Irwin Prystaloski since Feb. 7, 1948. They had just celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Anthony joined the U.S. Army in March 1943 and was honorably discharged in March 1946. He was with Company “K” of the 222nd Infantry in the European Theater during World War II.
Anthony worked at Sharon Steel for 32 years, which he retired from in 1980. He also worked on the family farm.
He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Anthony enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with his wife.
In addition to his wife, Martha, he is survived by a daughter, Constance J. Zappia and her companion, Michael E. Bacon, of Conneaut Lake; a granddaughter, Angelina (Lena) Zappia and her husband, Joshua Lawrence, of LoLo, Mont.; a grandson, Domenic (Jay) J. Zappia and his fiancée, Kerrie Curtin, of Kansas City, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Seth and Sara Zappia of Kansas City, and Jacob, Zachary, and Nicholas Zappia-Lawrence of LoLo; a brother, Robert Prystaloski and his wife, Ruth, of Meadville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Chester, Karl, Frank and Leon; and two sisters, Martha and Jenny.
A private graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens for the immediate family.
