Alvin (Pa) E. Sandrock, 77, of Conneautville, died peacefully Wednesday Feb. 27, 2013, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family following a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born March 1, 1935, in Venus, a son of the late Leonard and Tressie Goodman Sandrock.
Alvin retired from National Fuel Gas after working more than 38 years. He was of Methodist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1955 to 1957. In his spare time he kept busy with baseball and softball. He was involved with various leagues throughout his life. The most notable was pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates Farm League. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with “Heidi,” his ’28 Chevy. He also enjoyed spending time in the woods hunting. Most of all, Alvin loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing catch and teaching them the game.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by two children, Teresa Knopp and her husband, Rodger, and Alan and his wife, Stephanie Sandrock, all of Meadville; three grandchildren, Teresa’s daughter, Rachel Knopp, and Alan’s daughters, Riley and Kendall Sandrock, all of Meadville; three sisters, Helen Beary and Maxine Motter, both of Venus, and Sandra (Sis) Unstead and her husband, Ronald, of Kennerdell; and two very special friends, Ralph and Terry Nelson of Conneautville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clyde, Orville, and Ronald (Sam); and two sisters, Ila Mae and infant sister, Betty.

Services will be private under the care of White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville.
Friends and loved ones are invited to join the family to celebrate “Pa’s” life and share memories Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Bo Rocks, 11330 Perry Highway, Meadville.
