Richard (RB or Rich) Frank Beisheim Jr.

SMYRNA, Ga. — Richard (RB or Rich) Frank Beisheim Jr. of Smyrna, Ga., passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, unexpectedly at his home.

Born in Meadville on June 20, 1974, he was a son of Richard F. and Maxine Lantz Beisheim of Butler. He married Stacy Marie Polis, formerly of Monaca, on April 17, 2009, at Primrose Cottage in Roswell, Ga.

He was a graduate of Butler Senior High School and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering. At the time of his death he was a captain with AirTran Airways. He had served as one of four members of the merger committee of the Air Line Pilots Association, representing AirTran pilots in the integration of the respective pilots in the recent Southwest Airways/AirTran Airways merger.

RB lived his life with integrity, compassion, devotion and an unconditional love for his family. He was passionate about flying and traveling. He enjoyed adventure in the great outdoors, boating, hiking, tennis and everything Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy Beisheim of Smyrna; his parents, Richard and Maxine Beisheim of Butler; brother, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Beisheim of Eighty Four; father-in-law, Samuel Polis of East Palestine, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Shari Brewer of Kennesaw, Ga., and Shelly (Daniel) Parks of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; a nephew and three nieces; his aunts and uncles, Pauline and Alfred Hartick of Meadville and Reuben and Barbara Lantz of North Ridgeville, Ohio.

He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Zona Polis.

A celebration of Rich’s life was held in the Atlanta, Ga., area on Nov. 2.

Friends of the family will be received on Nov. 23 from 1 p.m. until the start of a memorial service at 1:30 at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., Butler.

Entombment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richard F. Beisheim Jr. Fund of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, 120 Wall St. — 29th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10005, or at afsp.org.
