CONNEAUT LAKE — Larry E. Smith, 75, of Conneaut Lake and formerly of Andover, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born July 22, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late Harold and Mary Parker Smith. He married Sharon Rae Bollinger on Nov. 12, 1967. She survives.

He was a 1956 graduate of State College High School and attended Penn State University.

He was a sales representative with George Worthington Co. in Cleveland. He then owned and operated Cole Hardware Store in Andover, then retired from Carter Lumber in Austinburg, Ohio.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany.

He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Conneaut Lake. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club. He loved being outside and loved to “tinker.” He enjoyed the time he spent riding his Ford Diesel tractor. He especially loved the time he spent with his family and friends. He never lost his sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, Sharon Rae Smith of Conneaut Lake, he is survived by two daughters, Kerry Lautanen and her husband, Danny, of Espyville, and Kristin Abbott and her husband, Tom, of Conneaut Lake; six grandchildren, Lauren Queale, Kyle Abbott, Krista Abbott, Michelle Lautanen, Jake Lautanen and Matt Lautanen; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Eric, Kymani and Ryan; a brother, William C. Smith and his wife, Sigrid, of Andover; Jacki, Rod and Jenny and other nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; and his mother-in-law, Carmen Bollinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Smith.

Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 240 N. Third St., Conneaut Lake, and are welcome to attend the memorial service at 3, with the Rev. Jay Sterling, Pastor David Brumagin and the Rev. Skip Green officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 240 N. Third St., Conneaut Lake, Pa. 16316.
