Rosalia K. Rung Oldakowski of Erie, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of 89 years, passed away at UPMC Hamot on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013. She was born to the late Joseph and Ida Rung on Oct. 4, 1924, in Erie.
Rose graduated from East High School and later was an employee of the Boston Store.
She was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Rose was an avid Cleveland Indians/Browns fan and a member of a lifetime card club of high school friends. She was known for her devotion to her husband for more than 71 years.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Oldakowski Sr.; four sisters, Marianne, Delores, Margaret and Betty; a brother, Joseph Rung; and a son, James Oldakowski.
She is survived by her son, Al Oldakowski Jr. (Katrina) of Meadville; a daughter, Christine Rogers (Tom) of Brenham, Texas; five grandchildren, Marie, Julie, Michael, Tim and Dawn; great-grandchildren, Ted, Nicole, Lauren, Whitney and Kendall; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Dusckas Funeral Home Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road, Erie, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there Saturday at 1:15 p.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 2 p.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist RC Church, 695 Smithson.
Private interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
