CULVER CITY, Calif. — Joseph Jerome (Joe) Chabola, a former Linesville resident, died on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, in Culver City, Calif.

Joe was born in Morann, Ohio, on May 28, 1923, and raised in Cleveland and Pennline, Ohio. Joe and his wife, June Gehring Chabola, were residents of Linesville for several years prior to moving to California in 1955.

Joe was the loving husband of June Gehring Chabola for 65 years; and a very special and devoted father to Jerry (Janet), Jackie (Patrick Flannery) and daughter Judy (deceased). He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Gehring; four grandchildren, Janice (Robert Beighey), Casey Chabola (Kim), PJ Flannery (Rachel) and Shane; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Hannah, Sierra, Justin, Joey and Tyler.

He had two brothers and three sisters who preceded him in death and numerous relatives especially in the Ohio and Pennsylvania area.

Joe and family were active parishioners of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Venice, Calif., since 1955. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid bowler, golfer, hunter, fisherman, square dancer as well as a gardener. He was active in the youth sports programs with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He retired from Los Angeles Unified School District as a supervisor in 1985.

Please join in a celebration of his life on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 940 Coeur D Alene Ave., Venice, Calif. 90291. A reception immediately follows in the parish hall.
