DuBOIS — Edward L. Walk, 87, of 1100 W. Long Ave., DuBois, formerly of 10206 Circle East, Meadville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

Edward was born in Powelton on Sept. 5, 1925, a son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Ladenberger Walk. On Sept. 10, 1949, Edward married Vinnie A. Aiola; she survives.

While living in Meadville, Edward was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

In April 1985 Edward retired from the spinning department of the former Avtex Fibers Inc. of Meadville. He entered the U.S. Army on July 22, 1954, and served his country until his honorable discharge on July 11, 1956. A life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Meadville Aerie 429, Edward’s hobbies included bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing and doing crossword puzzles.

In addition to his wife, Vinnie, of 63 years, Edward is survived by two sons, Father Edward Walk of DuBois, and Thomas Walk and his wife, Connie, of Meadville; two grandchildren, Michelle Walk of Boston, and Thomas Joseph Walk of Pittsburgh; a sister, Virginia Walk of Meadville; two brothers, William Walk of Meadville, and George Walk and his wife, Sylvia, of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by five sisters, Janet Walk, Betty Bender, Mary Louis Best, Frances Wisgirda and Judy Kircher; and two brothers, Michael and John Walk.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Sept. 6 at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with his son, Father Edward Walk, as celebrant.

Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
