Amid her library employment, she decided to pursue her real estate license, which she attained in 1978 for the state of Ohio and in 1968 for Pennsylvania. She worked for Louise Bush Realty Inc., Mansfield, Ohio, from 1978 to 1982; and for Richmond Real Estate, Meadville, from 1968 to 1972.

In her earlier years she volunteered as a Cub Scout den mother as well as a Girl Scout leader. Her hobbies included painting with acrylics, baking, sewing, working puzzles and she loved reading and anything pertaining to books.
