Charlotte (Char) Ann Edmiston

SAEGERTOWN — “And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.” St. Francis of Assisi.

Charlotte (Char) Ann Edmiston passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at the age of 72 at her home in Saegertown.

Char was born May 6, 1941 in Duluth, Minn., to Gordon and Marcella Stresow.

She graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth and attended nursing school in Chicago. While in Chicago, she met Tom and they were married on June 14, 1961. Char retired in 2003 after 20 years of employment at Crawford County Care Center, where she worked as a nursing assistant and a dietary aide.

Char enjoyed attending church, Book Club, Ladies of the Place, bible study and “WORMS.” She also enjoyed more than 30 years of card club with the gals, bus trips to casinos and participating in the Eat and Travel Club. Char will be remembered for her whit and for being a great mom — what she was truly meant to be.

Char is survived by her son, Jeffrey Edmiston and his wife, Julie Wilcox, of Elliottsburg; her daughter, Gail Kelly and her husband, Frank, of Meadville; her son, Jonathan Edmiston and his wife, Patty, of Conneautville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Char is also survived by a sister, Ruth Stresow of San Francisco; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her special friends, Ruth Gagne of Alabama, Lea Marshall, Barbara Cummings and her special buddy, Isaac Levis, all of Saegertown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; her brother, Roger Stresow; and her brother, Paul Stresow.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held at Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, 358 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, on Wednesday at 4:44 p.m., with Pastor Karen Lundwall, interim pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 640, Saegertown, Pa. 16433; or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
