CONNEAUTVILLE — Joseph Ernest (Ernie) Legare, 70, of Conneautville passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at his residence with his wife at his side after a three-month courageous battle with cancer.

Born Jan. 9, 1943, in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada, he was a son of Joseph and Lois Kaus Legare. He married Nova Jones on Oct. 27, 1976.

He served our country in the U.S. Army.

Ernie enjoyed hunting, fishing and making jewelry and leather crafts. He was also known to his family as Bufford, Harold, Big Ern, and his Indian name, Timberwolf.

Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Nova Legare; seven children, Shawn Renee Legare of Charleston, S.C., Shane Legare and his companion, Margaret, of Walterboro, S.C., Chandra Paul and her husband, Chris, of Espyville, Joseph Legare of Conneautville, Rochelle Legare and her companion, Tim, of Hixson, Tenn., Aaron Legare and his companion, Angie, of Geneva, Ohio, and Tyrel Legare and his wife, Bekki, of Conneautville; 17 grandchildren, Rebecca and Jarred Legare, Billie Jo Soyster, Ashton, Meena and Porter Paul, Mickhi, Cadence and Temprance Legare, Carolin Rombold, KatieSue Legare, Delaney Wiley, Toby, Lakotah, Mahayla and London Legare and due in December, baby Phoenix Legare; two sisters, Ruth Hlabse and her husband, Steve, of Wickliffe, Ohio, and Linda Fee and her husband, Dan, of Mentor, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, John Jones and his wife, Debbie, of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Jason Jones and his wife, Sonya, of New Lyme, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per his request, cremation will take place and services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
