Edna Detweiler-Coblentz


MEADVILLE TRIBUNE

HARTVILLE, Ohio — Edna Detweiler-Coblentz, 97, of Hartville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home.

She was born Feb. 28, 1915, in Shipshewana, Ind., to the late John I. and Barbara (Miller) Bontrager.

She was a member of Pinecraft Amish Church in Sarasota, Fla., where she was a winter resident. She lived next door to her daughter, Mrs. Allen (Laura) Sommers in Hartville. She loved to quilt and crochet and gave many quilts and afghans to her family members.

Edna was married to Monroe Detweiler on Dec. 9, 1937. They lived in matrimony for 36 years. Monroe died March 20, 1974. On May 14, 1978, she was married to Menno Coblentz. They lived in matrimony 15 years. He died Aug. 13, 1993.

She is survived by her children, Laverne (Ila) Detweiler of Sarasota, Mrs. Raymond (Ramona) Detweiler of Cheyenne, Wyo., Elsie Anderson of Sarasota, Harold (Debbie) Detweiler of Rawlins, Wyo., Lester (Karen) Detweiler of Sarasota, Laura (Allen) Sommers of Hartville and James (Laurie) Detweiler of Townville; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Hershberger and Lydia Mae Kauffman, both of Goshen, Ind.; stepsons, Emanuel, Raymond, Jonas, Henry, Eli and Wallace Coblentz; stepdaughters, Nancy Coblentz, Anna Schwartz, Amanda Raber and Esther Ranalli; and many stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Wilbur and Raymond Detweiler; two grandchildren; six brothers and four sisters; and stepson, Daniel Coblentz.

Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hartville Mennonite Church.

Funeral services are Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hartville Mennonite Church.

Final resting place is Oak Grove Cemetery.
