Shirley E. Kinder, 83, of Hillside Home, Meadville, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 2, 1929, in Meadville, a daughter of John and Goldie Rhodes. She married William R. Kinder on Feb. 5, 1949; he preceded her in death on July 27, 2011.
She was a graduate of Meadville Area High School and was a homemaker taking care of her family.
Shirley enjoyed flowers, yardwork, puzzles and removing all the dandelions from her yard and the yards of her neighbors.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen L. Kinder-Brown of Conneautville; two sons, Jack A. Kinder and his wife, Brenda, of Meadville, and Kirk E. Kinder of Watertown, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband, William, of 62 years, she was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Brown; and a brother, Clyde Rhodes.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Kenn Orndorph officiating.
Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township.
Memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
