FRUITA, Colo. —
Robert J. Grove of Fruita, Colo., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014.
He was born in Meadville on Dec. 30, 1921, the only child of Floyd and Irene Grove of Mead Avenue (both deceased).
Robert graduated from Meadville Senior High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Pennsylvania in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed by Talon Corp. for several years prior to his military service.
He married Bettye Holmes in May 1945. Bettye preceded him in death in February 1998. They have a daughter, Cherylee (Pinki) of Silverthorne, Colo.
Robert was employed by Erie Lackawanna Railroad (and Conrail) as yard conductor until he retired to New Port Richey, Fla. He moved to Colorado in 2012, where he lived most recently at The Willows Assisted Living Facility in Fruita.
He is survived by his daughter, Cherylee Faux and her husband, Paul Faux, both formerly of Meadville, now living in Silverthorne; three grandchildren, Shelley Curvy of Hillsboro, Ore., Ryan Faux of Melrose, Mass., and Lindsey Faux of Portland, Ore.; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Curvy, 8 years old, of Oregon, Jessica Faux, 6 years old, of Massachusetts, and Samson Curvy, 6 years old, of Oregon.
