GUYS MILLS — Wayne A. Jones, 90, of Guys Mills died at home surrounded by his family on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013.

He was born in Guys Mills on March 5, 1923, a son of Lawrence N. and Neva E. Wiltse Jones. He married Clara A. Kubisiak on Jan. 27, 1943, and she preceded him in death Sept. 14, 2002.

He worked at the former American Viscose Corp. and Avtex Corp. in the spinning department for 42 years, retiring in 1985. He also farmed and raised cattle in the Guys Mills area.

He attended Randolph schools and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by a son, Lawrence Jones and his wife, Linda, of Randleman, N.C.; a daughter, Neva A. (Midge) Jones and her life partner, Becky DuBose, of Guys Mills; a stepgrandson, David Browning and his wife, Kourtni; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Amanda Jane; a brother-in-law, Harold Wolbert of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews; and Bob Kent and his companion, Laurie Dengler, of Saegertown, whom he always considered as a son.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth Jones, Walter Jones, James Jones and an infant brother, Wallace; and two sisters, Anna Mae Wolbert and an infant sister, Elizabeth.

Calling hour will be Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dave Brumagin officiating.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Black Ash Sportsman Inc., 84010 Clark Road, Guys Mills, Pa. 16327.
