Ellen L. Armstrong

ENOLA — Ellen L. Armstrong, 84, formerly of Titusville died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23, 2013, at her daughter’s residence in Enola.

Ellen was born Oct. 15, 1929, at Hydetown, a daughter of the late Richard and Madelyn Goodwill Donovan. She was raised by her grandparents, Fred and Ida Donovan. Ellen was formerly married to Floyd Armstrong.

She was a graduate of Titusville High School and the Sibley Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C., class of 1973. She had been employed as a nurse at Titusville Area Hospital for a number of years. Ellen had also worked at the former MFG Boat Company in Union City.

She was a former member of Diamond United Methodist Church and a current member of Enola Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Wyant and husband, Alan, of Centerville, Shirley Copeland of Pleasantville and Carole Armstrong of Enola, with whom she made her home; seven grandchildren, Scott Wyant and wife, Robin, of Meadville, Mark Wyant and wife, Steffanie, of Transfer, Shannon Hasbrouck and husband, Jim, of Centerville, Jason Rankin and wife, Sarah, of Grand Valley, Joni Wescoat and husband, Kevin, of Titusville, Master Sgt. Kurt Copeland stationed with the U.S. Air Force at Belgium, and Deanna Morris and husband, Aaron, of Pittsburgh; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Duane Copeland; a great granddaughter; two step brothers; and a step sister.

Friends may call at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m., at which time the funeral service will be conducted, with the Rev. John Hall officiating.

Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery in Titusville.

The family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, Pa. 17110; to any chapter of the American Cancer Society; or to the Enola Emanuel United Methodist Church Building Fund.

(Doodee) Onspaugh Loper and the late Robert E. Loper on Sept. 13, 1946, in Geneva. She married William Payne March 27, 1965. He survives.
