Thomas Clair McGranahan, 97, of Atlantic, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born July 20, 1915, at Kennard, the son of Victor J. and Esther Smock McGranahan. Thomas married Edna Dail Mushrush on Feb. 5, 1937; she preceded him in death on May 24, 1995.
He was a welder and a farmer, having retired from the Greenville Steel Car and the McGranahan Farm, and was a member of Fallowfield United Methodist Church. Tom enjoyed hunting and traveling out west and to Florida with his wife.
He is survived by two sons, Robert C. McGranahan of Atlantic, and Victor D. McGranahan and his wife, Paige, of Sheakleyville. Also surviving are many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. McGranahan was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a daughter, Edna Mae Bradway; five sisters, Hazel Louise Schuman, Helen Leona McGranahan, Ada McDonald, Ethel Minnis and Frances Unger; and four brothers, John, Clarence, Virgil and Victor McGranahan.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m., and the funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Dave Brumagin of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating, all at Dickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 130 N. Second St., in the Village at Conneaut Lake, Rocco R. Tedesco III, supervisor.
Interment will take place in Rocky Glen Cemetery.
The McGranahan family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Salvation Army, Park Avenue, Meadville, Pa. 16335.
