Michael Keches, 98, of Meadville, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

He was born in Farrell, Feb. 22, 1914, a son of John Keches and Maria Kuric Keches. He married Madeline E. Houser on July 4, 1941; she preceded him in death March 28, 2009.

He was a pipefitter for Avtex Fibers Inc., retiring in 1979 after 38 years.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946.

He was a past member of the Elks and Fraternal Order of Eagles; he was active at the Senior Center and was their DJ for dances. He and his wife were great ballroom dancers. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida.

Survivors include five brothers, Amil Keches of McKeesport; John Keches of Meadville, George Keches and his wife, Mary, of Pittsburgh, Pete Keches of Lock Haven and Harry Keches of Palas Verdes, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a sister, Helen Keches; and four sisters-in-law, Madlyn Keches, Marjorie Keches, Frances Keches and Kathryn Keches.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
