CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS — Lawrence Robert (Bud) Richardson, 83, died of natural causes on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at his residence, 23193 Route 19, Cambridge Springs.

Born in Meadville on Feb. 12, 1930, to the late Theodore R. Richardson and Florence Iola Ditch Richardson, Bud lived in Cambridge Springs for the past 60 years. He was married to the former Elizabeth (Bette) Schweitzer, who survives.

Bud entered the U.S. Army in 1951 after graduating from Meadville High School in 1949. After the war, he returned to Meadville and began a career with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Bud managed state stores at various locations in the area and retired from the Meadville Plaza store in 1985.

As an avid golfer, Bud belonged to the Riverside Golf League. He enjoyed watching birds, traveling and enjoyed word puzzles.

Surviving Bud is his wife, Bette, of 59 years, whom he married Aug. 6, 1954; and four daughters, Laurie Dietly of Cambridge Springs, Karen Taylor and her husband, Robert of Oceanside, Calif., Susan Lener of Meadville, and Alison Vatter and her husband, Randy, of Meadville. Survivors also include seven grandchildren, Sean Dietly, Kelli Dietly, Mary Taylor, Olivia Lener, Kyle Gibson, Tyler Gibson and Joshua Gibson; a great-grandson, Mason Gibson; a brother, Fred (Bus) Richardson of Bellingham, Wash.; and a half sister, Alyce Culligan of Pensacola, Fla.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Boyd and June Fultz; and a granddaughter, Adrianne Seber.

There are no visiting hours or funeral services being planned at this time.
