SAEGERTOWN — Robert (Bob) J. Pfleger, 87, of Saegertown, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at home.

Bob was born in Jersey City, N.J., on Sept. 11, 1926, the son of the late John W. and Ellen (Fewer) Pfleger.

On May 2, 1972, Bob married Hazel (Shawn) Bailey; she survives.

A member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Bob had previously been an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Cambridge Springs, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, taking communion to a local nursing home as well as shut-ins.

In the 1970s, Bob began his career in drug and alcohol counseling in Washington, D.C., eventually moving to the Meadville area. He retired from Meadville Medical Center, where he held the position of administrator for the Drug/Alcohol Rehabilitation Center. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2006, USS Parker Association and the Meadville Management Association. In his earlier years, Bob served as a volunteer firefighter. Bob will be remembered as someone who spent most of his life dedicated to helping substance abusers. The most important things in his life were God, his family and helping people recover. He will be sadly missed.
