Norman Michael Farzalo

MEADVILLE —

Norman Michael Farzalo, 85, of Meadville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at home.

Born March 31, 1926, in Meadville, he was a son of Ralph and Mary Fucci Stellato Farzalo.

He married Helen E. Crow on Feb. 9, 1950; she preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 1989.

He retired after 35 years at Meadville Forging Co. as a die room supervisor. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.

He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Church.

He was a member of the Italian Civic Club, and loved to cook and bake pizzelles. He enjoyed helping his friends, swimming and gardening; and recently became a walker, walking up to two miles per day.

Survivors include two sons, David Farzalo and his wife, Susan, of Whitmore Lake, Mich., and Steven Farzalo and his wife, Tamar, of Concord, N.C.; five grandchildren, Jonathan N. Farzalo and his wife, Vicky, of Kannapolis, N.C., Timothy J. Farzalo and his wife, Savanah, of Medford, Ore., Cassandra Bachmann and her husband, Eric, of Concord, and Francesca Farzalo and Anthony Farzalo of Whitmore Lake; five great-grandchildren, Alayna, Jena, Sidney, Ryland and Illoura; two sisters, Ann Bucci of Meadville, and Pauline Rinko and her husband, Regis, of Milledgeville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville.

The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in St. Brigid’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society, 4340 East-West Highway 350, Bethesda, Md. 20814; or to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie, Pa. 16505.

(Doodee) Onspaugh Loper and the late Robert E. Loper on Sept. 13, 1946, in Geneva. She married William Payne March 27, 1965. He survives.
