Donald A. Tingley

CONNEAUTVILLE — Donald A. Tingley, 80, of 801 Washington St., Conneautville, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at his residence.

He was born in Boston, Mass., on Nov. 12, 1931, a son of the late Stanley Short and Martha Simpson Short. He married Louise Smith and she preceded him in death.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict where he was a commissioned communications officer. He was a watch repairman for 65 years, having owned his own jewelry store. He repaired watches and clocks from all over the world.

He was a member and supporter of the Salvation Army. He loved and enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called him “Gabber.”

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Nicholas and companion, Fred Ransom, with whom Mr. Tingley lived in Conneautville; adopted son, Steven and wife, Lori Finck, (children, Peter and Matthew) of Shelburn Falls, Mass.; five grandchildren, Autumn Shultz and husband Aaron, Brandon Nicholas (and Kelly Ambrose), Jayme Ransom, Alicia Ransom (and Dale Armstrong) and Kimberly Turner and husband, Bobbie; and eight great-grandchildren, Zachary Moote, Dominick Cirri-Ransom, Ryan Nicholas, Anthony Turner, Danielle Shultz, Mackenzie Turner, Dale Robert Armstrong and Lillian Turner.

He was preceded in death by his wife; and son, Donald David Tingley.

Graveside military services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Beaver Center Cemetery, 3298 Parker Road, Springboro, with Pastor Marshall Lillie of Springboro Church of the Nazarene officiating.

Memorials may be made to the donator’s favorite charity; or to Salvation Army, 1087 Park Ave. Meadville, Pa. 16335; or Springboro Church of the Nazarene, State Highway 18, Springboro, Pa. 16435.

Arrangements are being handled by White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville.
