Doris A. Law

CLARKS MILLS — Doris A. Law, 76, Clarks Mills, New Vernon Township, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday evening, Jan. 29, 2014, in Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born February 16, 1937 in Jackson Center, she was the daughter of Joseph E. and Bertha L. Pearson McElwain.

Mrs. Law was a 1955 graduate of Lakeview High School.

In early years she worked for Dr’s Fithian and Hoyt of Mercer and for many years served as township secretary for New Vernon Township.

Most of all Doris was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and husband Skip loved to travel and traveled extensively over the years.

She was a member of the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school and Bible school.

Doris loved flowers and for many years worked in the flower department of the Fine Arts Hall of the Great Stoneboro Fair. She also enjoyed reading and sewing. She was a member of the local Forget-Me-Nots.

 She married Albert W. (Skip) Law, Feb. 24, 1956, and he survives at home. Also surviving are two sons, David A. Law and his wife, Kim, of Clarks Mills and Robert L. Law and his wife, Gale, of Sandy Lake; a daughter-in-law, Glynis Gilliand of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Valorie Law, Decinda (Ryan) Williams, Alan (Jenn) Law, Chris Law, Jessica (Mike) Feltenberger and Anthony Gesmond; seven great-grandchildren and a soon to be born great-granddaughter. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father James McCauslin and a son, William E. (Bill) Law.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro.

The Funeral and Committal Service is at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church, 3813 Hadley Road, Clarks Mills, with Rev. Dayton D. Mix, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be New Lebanon Cemetery, Mill Creek Township.
