Janet Oleva Morrison Porter

MANSFIELD, Ohio — Janet Oleva Morrison Porter, 79, of 70 Winchester Road, Mansfield, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014, at Medcentral Health System in Mansfield, Ohio, in the morning.

She was born in Mercer on Aug. 8, 1934, a daughter of Harry James Morrison and Eunice Marie Zahniser Morrison.

Janet worked as a registered nurse at Venice Hospital in Venice, Fla., and then retired from Arcadia Hospital in Arcadia, Fla., as an RN.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She graduated from Linesville Conneaut Summit High School in 1953 and Edison College in Florida in 1988 with an RN degree.

Janet loved collecting dolls and taking pictures of nature. She also did the photos of many weddings. Janet and her late husband, Terry, loved hunting for gems. Everyone looked forward each year to Janey’s Christmas card with a great nature picture on it.

She is survived by three daughters, Jeanne, wife of David Barnes, in Tennessee, Susan Twerefuo, wife of the late Francis Twerefuo, in Ohio, and Margaret, wife of David Coyne in Florida; three sons, Lewis Porter and his wife, Donette, in Tennessee, David Porter and his wife, Diane, in Ohio, and John Porter; three sisters, Marilyn, wife of Howard McCullough, in Pennsylvania, Phyllis, wife of Henry Jerpi, in Pennsylvania, and Carol, wife of John Garver, in Ohio; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marie Morrison; a sister, Paula Jean Morrison; and her husband, Terry Anthony.

The funeral service was held at Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 144 S. Pitt Street, Mercer, on Thursday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Rich Williams, friend of the family, officiating.

Visitation was on Thursday from 10 a.m. till time of the service.

Burial was at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Township.
