Clara Jean Williams

GREENVILLE — Clara Jean Williams, 83, of the Heritage at St. Paul’s, Greenville (West Salem Twp.), formerly of 15 Argus Street, Greenville, passed away at 6:34 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville.

Jean was born in Sheakleyville on Dec. 28, 1930, to the late, William John and Helen Josephine (Vaughn) Davison.

She was a registered nurse at the former Greenville Hospital from 1952 to 1971. Then, Jean worked as a nursing supervisor at St. Paul Homes, where she retired in March 1993.

Jean enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting. She collected Depression glass, and her collection was extensive. Jean also liked bird watching, reading, gardening, planting flowers and had a collection of African violets. She loved attending activities and sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean also loved the companionship of her cats.

She was married to Cecil Oren Williams on April 25, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 2006.

Jean is survived by two sons, Richard Vaughn Williams and his wife, Rhonda, of Knox, and John Cecil Williams and his wife, Kim, of Greenville; five grandchildren, Stephen Andrew Williams and his wife, Christina, of Greenville, Jessica Marie Snyder and her husband, Matt of Greenville, Christy Lee Meterko and her husband, Adam, of Strattanville, Daniel John Williams and his wife, Erin, of Greenville and Dayna Michelle Saltzgaber and her husband, Staff Sgt. Ryan, of Anchorage, Alaska; eight great-grandchildren, Stephen Vaughn Williams of Greenville, Louden Ty Booher of Greenville, Sawyer Andrew Williams of Greenville, Dominick Joseph Snyder of Greenville, Rilee Hope Saltzgaber of Anchorage, Matthew John Snyder of Greenville, Holden Daniel Williams of Greenville and Brayden Adam Meterko of Strattanville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Major William Glen Davison; a sister, Betty Jane Stallsmith; an infant grandson, Brandon John Williams; an infant great-granddaughter, Gracen Faith Saltzgaber; and a brother-in-law, Rev. Andrew Stallsmith.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Osborne-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 73-75 Columbia Ave., Greenville.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Sunday with Rev. Paul O Mitchell, visitation pastor of First United Methodist Church in Greenville, officiating.

Burial with graveside committal prayers will follow the services at Sheakleyville Cemetery in Sheakleyville.
