Virginia R. Kelsey Godfrey of Conneautville, formerly of Hermitage, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at 7:45 a.m. in Rolling Hills Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was 87 years old.
Mrs. Godfrey was born Aug. 13, 1926, in New Haven, Conn., to her parents, Howard Kelsey and Mildred Katz Kelsey. Mrs. Godfrey graduated from Hamden High School, Hamden, Conn., and then worked in commercial banking in New Haven. On Sept. 8, 1948, she married her husband, Donald Godfrey, in Hamden. Mr. Godfrey passed away in 1991. Later, after they moved to the Valley, Mrs. Godfrey worked for the former McDowell National Bank. Mrs. Godfrey was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage.
Mrs. Godfrey is survived by a son, Dr. Craig Godfrey of Meadville; a daughter, Robin Godfrey of Pittsburgh; and two grandsons, Brent Godfrey and Drew Godfrey of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Oakwood Cemetery, 600 N. Oakland Ave., Sharon, at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. David Evans of Hickory United Methodist Church officiating.
